Training & Qualifications

As you can see from my home page, I am Mandy Gahan MNCH (Lic) Dip. CAH PNLP and EFT practitioner. But what does that all mean?

It means I am a Licentiate Member of National Council for Hypnotherapy, I hold a Diploma in Clinical and Advanced Hypnosis, am a Certified Practitioner of Neuro Linguistic Programming and am a certified Practitioner in Emotional Freedom Techniques. I am a member of the National Guild of Hypnotists as a Certified Hypnotherapist, and also a member of the Association for the Advancement of Meridian Energy Techniques.

As a member of the National Council for Hypnotherapy and National Guild of Hypnotists, I have to adhere to a strict code of ethics, and undertake continuous professional development to ensure that my skills remain current.

I also hold a diploma in Stress Management Consultancy and have extensive experience of delivering training to individuals, small groups and corporate companies.

Background

For most of my adult life I have been involved, in one way or another with training, and helping people to overcome obstacles in their professional or personal lives. For over a decade I was a Sessional Trainer for Fife NHS Health Promotion Department, delivering group work sessions for parents and teachers covering difficult subjects such as alcohol, drugs, sexual health and parenting skills. I’ve worked collaboratively with teachers to help them manage change in their working practices especially around emotive subjects such as sexual health, drugs and alcohol.

I have extensive knowledge of victim and witness issues, as well as the Criminal Justice System having worked as Co-ordinator with Victim Support Scotland for ten years providing a practical and emotional support service to victims and witnesses in Courts throughout Fife, Tayside and Angus. During this time I was responsible for the development and training of new staff and volunteers and was involved in setting up new provisions to deal with vulnerable witnesses.

I have also spent many years helping patients and their families to cope and live with inflammatory bowel diseases Colitis and Crohn‘s, as well as raising funds and being proactive in raising the profile of the National Association for Crohn’s and Colitis. Having lived with IBD for most of my life, I know only too well the pain and suffering caused by IBD. It was following surgery that I had my first encounter with hypnotherapy and other therapies out-with the realms of ’conventional’ treatment.

Hypnotherapy provided me with a genuine solution to a very real problem and has certainly improved my quality of life. It is in my nature to want to help others, so I chose to study clinical hypnotherapy to allow me to give others the same opportunity that I had.
